On April 29, 1964, the U.S. Post Office honored naturalist John Muir with this stamp featuring a head shot of Muir with redwoods.  At the bottom is a figure representing Muior in a ray of sunlight. Rudolph Wendelin, a U.S. Forest Service artist, designed the stamp.
